Hopefully your Business Settings also give you a space to decide on the way you want to run your business so that it works most successfully for you.

Personal Holidays

Up to how many days paid and/or unpaid holiday will you take annually?

Planning how much holiday to take each year (and when to take it) may depend on the type of placements you offer and your experience.

If scheduled care falls on your planned holiday days, you can either charge or not charge for those days i.e. paid or unpaid, respectively.

We suggest your holiday allowance renews each year on the calendar year (this is set automatically). This helps communicate your holiday periods for agreements starting at different times in the year.

When have you planned holidays for in 2023?

Public Holidays

Will you stay open on Public Holidays?

There are 9 UK public holidays in 2023 (and there may be further festivals/significant dates relevant to you). Most commonly childminders take these days off as unpaid holiday, but you can decide to stay open if you wish.

Public Holidays

Public Holidays

How much do you charge for Public Holiday care?

Funded

Do you accept funded placements?

To be able to accept funded placements you need to request eligibility information from the guardians and register either with your local authority or with tiney. This can take some time, so we recommend arranging this in advance.

Frequency

Do you offer full year or term time placements, or both?

Let us know if you offer care all year round (full year) or in term time only

Term dates

For your academic year, when do your terms start and end?

Your term time dates will generally be the same as the Local Authority's dates, or you might want to follow the dates of particular schools that you do pick ups/drops offs for.

Income Goal

How much income do you plan to earn each year?

You should consider how much income you need to make in order to make profit after costs and expenses. Setting an annual goal can help you decide how to set your rates, fees and the number of enrolments you take on.

Policies

Confirm your tiney home’s policies

Your policies will set out what you will do in certain situations and must be shared with parents (and signed) to make it really clear how you run your business. We have listed all the key policies here. Please add any additional policies specific to your tiney home.
