What is a Supported Growth Plan?
If you received a Support Required grading at your Quality Assessment (QA), we'll put a Supported Growth Plan (SGP) in place for you. Think of it as your personalised roadmap for improving your practice. It sets out clearly what we'd like you to work on, and how we'll support you along the way.
We believe in you being in the driving seat of your own development. Your SGP is designed to help you take ownership of the areas that need attention, with tiney alongside you to offer guidance, training, and encouragement.
What's in your SGP?
Your SGP will clearly set out:
The areas of your practice that need improvement
Specific actions for you to work through, colour-coded so you know how urgent they are
Links to the relevant EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) standards, so you can see exactly what's expected
Details of the training modules and group coaching sessions available to you
Understanding your actions
Your actions will be colour-coded.
Red actions are compliance actions. These relate to requirements under the EYFS framework that must be addressed as a priority. If your QA identified any red actions, you'll receive these as part of your SGP within 24 hours of your visit. It's really important that you work through these promptly and submit evidence of completion to the safeguarding team at safeguarding@tiney.co. |
Amber and green actions are quality improvement actions, areas where there's room to grow and develop your practice further. These are important too, but they don't carry the same urgency as red actions and so therefore have a longer timeframe to show progress against.
How does the process work?
Step 1: You receive your SGP
Following your QA, you'll receive your SGP compliance actions (red actions) within 48 hours. This will include clear explanations of what areas need addressing and ways in which this could be evidenced. You will need to submit evidence to show how you have addressed this within your setting.
Step 2: You get the full SGP
Once your red actions have been complete and signed off, you will then get your full SGP. This will include your red actions (but you won't need to evidence these any more), your amber and green actions too.
Step 3: You get started
You'll work through your actions at your own pace, completing the training modules, attending 1:1 coaching sessions, and checking in as required. We'll be rooting for you throughout.
Step 3: We check in with you
Our Learning and Development team will monitor your engagement with your SGP each month. If we have any concerns about how things are progressing, we'll be in touch to talk things through.
Each month, you'll receive an email with a link to book your SGP video call. Please make sure you book this each month. It's a really important part of the process, and it's your opportunity to talk through your progress, ask questions, and get extra support if you need it.
We expect you to:
Book and attend your monthly SGP video call via the link in your email
Actively engage with the training modules and resources set out in your plan
Submit evidence of completed red actions to safeguarding@tiney.co promptly
Respond to any communications from the tiney team within a reasonable timeframe
We know life can be busy, and we're not here to make things harder. But we do need to see genuine engagement with your plan. If we're not seeing progress over time, we may need to consider next steps, which could include a Notice of Intention (NOI) or Notice of Decision (NOD). We'd always much rather work through things with you, so please do reach out if you're struggling.
Step 4: We review your progress
Your progress will be reviewed by our Quality Panel. We want to see you engaging with your plan and making positive steps forward. If you're doing that, we'll be cheering you on every step of the way.
What if I'm struggling to engage?
We know that life as a childminder can be busy and sometimes challenging, and we want to support you as best we can. If you're finding it difficult to engage with your SGP (whether that's because of time, circumstances, or something else) please don't wait. Get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can talk through how to help.
Where a childminder isn't engaging with their SGP over time, we may need to consider next steps, which could include a Notice of Intention (NOI) or Notice of Decision (NOD). We'd always much rather work through things with you first.
Can my Local Authority see my SGP?
Your Local Authority (LA) receives a copy of your QA report, which will include your grading and actions. They may use this information as part of their own processes, for example when making decisions about funded hours. If you have questions about how this works, please get in touch with us and we'll be happy to explain.
Questions?
If you have any questions about your Supported Growth Plan, please reach out to the Quality team at quality@tiney.co. We're always happy to help.
