Tiney home nurseries are a popular choice for families with children at different ages and stages owing to the flexibility that you provide. For example, you may look after a 3-year-old all day, and have their older sibling join you for after-school care.
You may want to apply a sibling discount to attract families with multiple children. This is entirely your choice, and if it's something you're considering, we recommend the following:
Keep your discount small to avoid losing out on income that a child from another family would bring. We advise setting a competitive discount of between 5% and 10%.
The sibling discount should be applied to the additional children in the setting only. For example, if a family sends three siblings to your setting, the discount should be applied to siblings 2 and 3 only.
The sibling discount is only applicable for the duration of time that all siblings are registered at your tiney home nursery. For example, if you care for two siblings and sibling 2 receives a 5% discount, this would come to an end if sibling 1 leaves the setting (for example, to start school).
Ensure you clearly communicate the sibling discount and the terms of the discount to parents to avoid any confusion.
Remember, should a family wish to register multiple siblings at your tiney home nursery, each will need their own childcare agreement.
If you choose to apply a sibling discount, please use the discounted rate in the applicable contract(s) so that invoices will be correct, and so that guardians can see the post-discount cost in their contract.
