Covid cases are once again reported to be on the rise but thankfully we have passed the stage of lockdowns and pingdemics! There are currently no legal restrictions in place for Covid sufferers in the UK.

However, it is important for you as a childminder to know what current guidelines are around Covid so you can communicate clearly with parents and children in your setting if anyone falls ill.

As of September 2023 the guidance for Covid sufferers is as follows:

Try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people if you or your child have symptoms and either:

  • have a high temperature

  • do not feel well enough to go to work, school, childcare, or do your normal activities

You can go back to your normal activities when you feel better or do not have a high temperature.

If your child has mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat or mild cough, and they feel well enough, they can go to school or childcare.

If you have any queries regarding potential Covid-related closures for your setting or child absence then please contact the team to discuss these on a case by case basis.
