Data security is critical, especially when it comes to children and families.

What tiney is doing to protect your data:

  • Hosted by Google Cloud - Our systems run on Google Cloud infrastructure, which offers best-in-class, industry-leading security standards.

  • Encrypted by default - All photos and personal data are encrypted “at rest,” meaning they’re securely protected when stored on our servers.

  • Strict access controls - Only a small number of enhanced-DBS-checked team members have access to sensitive data, protected by two-factor authentication and robust Google account security.

  • Independent security testing - We bring in external cybersecurity experts annually to conduct penetration testing. Our most recent assessment took place in April and confirmed our systems remain secure.

What tiney childminders and parents can do to keep your own and your family’s data safe:

  • Use strong, unique passwords - Do not reuse the password you use for the tiney app for any other services. A password manager can make this easier.

  • Secure your email account - Most breaches begin with compromised email. Use a strong, separate password for your email. Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) and the highest level of security your email provider offers.

  • Never share your password, even with colleagues or family members. If others need access, create their own logins rather than sharing yours.

  • Be cautious with links and attachments - Check the “from” address is legitimate (watch out for misspellings) before clicking anything.

  • Keep your devices updated - Whether it’s your phone, tablet, or laptop, install updates promptly to protect against the latest threats.

We know that families may have questions about how their data is protected. Please feel free to share the above information with parents and guardians.
