We want to make it as easy as possible for you to stay on top of your tiney charges and avoid accumulation of overdue charges. If a charge isn't paid by its due date, we have a clear process in place, but we'll always try to speak with you first before taking any formal steps.
Reminders before due date
We'll send you reminders to make sure you're not caught off guard before the due date, you'll receive reminder notifications as the due date approaches
You can request to move the due date (for example if your local authority payment is coming later than the due date) in the app. This is a manual process, please allow 3 working days for us to review your request.
If you have autopay enabled, tiney will attempt to collect the charge automatically on the due date from your Wallet balance, and then from your backup payment method if needed.
We can help, talk to us
If you're struggling to pay, please reach out to us as soon as possible. We can discuss a payment plan that lets you delay some or all of the amount owed and spread payments over time.
Any agreed payment plan must be set up with autopay enabled, this means you authorise tiney to collect the planned instalments automatically from your Wallet or backup payment method. We cannot offer a manual payment plan.
The sooner you get in touch, the more options we have available. You can reach us via the chat in the tiney app.
What happens if a charge remains unpaid after the due date has passed
We will send a reminder about your overdue charges and attempt to get in touch.
If we're not able to reach you and the charge remains unpaid 2 weeks after the due date, the following steps will be taken by tiney:
A £50 late payment fee will be added to cover our administrative costs
Interest will begin accruing from the due date, at 4% per year above the Bank of England base rate
We will issue a Notice of Intention to Cancel your registration
You will have 14 days to appeal or contact us to reach a resolution. If no resolution is reached, we will issue a Notice of Decision confirming the cancellation of your registration
We may also pursue a legal route, which may include seeking a County Court Judgment (CCJ), engaging a debt collection service, or taking any other legal action available to us.
Note: steps 1 and 2 will be applied from 1 Sep 2026 onwards.
Throughout all of this, we remain open to conversation and to agreeing a payment plan. The earlier you reach out, the more options we have available.
What happens if your registration is cancelled or you leave tiney with an outstanding balance
If your registration is cancelled or you choose to resign from tiney while charges remain outstanding, you are still liable for the full amount owed, plus any applicable interest and late payment fees.
tiney will continue to pursue recovery of these amounts, which may include seeking a County Court Judgment (CCJ), engaging a debt collection service, or taking any other legal action available to us.
